Indian government leaves inflation control to the Rain God
8.75 per cent .. thats the highest inflation ever touched by the indian economy in the past 7 years. Instead of finding ways to fix this governments seems to be leaving the job to the Rain gods and other natural events.
While Montek Singh Ahluwalia agreed that inflation is on the rise and that it has turned into a major challenge for the government, he expressed hope that a good monsoon will help control the prices of commodities that are out of control.
He went on to share that wheat has seen a good high in this season and if India gets a good rainfall, rice production will also see an increase. While montek hopes that this will bring down the inflation rate, the fact remains that they do not have a solid plan to get this under control.
When asked about the calls for resignation of finance minister Chidambaram, montek rejected the call and blamed international reasons for the high prices and continued to hide behind the fact that every country in the world is facing a similar issue and that many other countries are having a higher rate of inflation that India
